The Midnight Knock

Ahsan prided himself on being fearless. Horror movies? Child’s play. Ghost stories? Boring. Even when his friends tried to prank him, he never flinched.

But one night, at exactly 3 AM, something strange happened.

Knock. Knock.

Ahsan sat up in bed. He lived alone. Who could be knocking at this hour?

Ignoring it, he pulled the blanket over his head. But then—

Knock. Knock. Knock.

His heart pounded. Was it a thief? A ghost? His landlord demanding rent early? No, even ghosts wouldn’t be that cruel.

Gathering his courage, he tiptoed to the door. He took a deep breath, counted to three, and swung it open—

Nothing.

The hallway was empty. Not even a shadow. He scratched his head. Maybe he was imagining things?

Just as he turned back—

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

Ahsan screamed. But this time, the sound wasn’t coming from the door. It was coming from inside the apartment.

His fridge.

Trembling, he slowly approached. The knocking continued. With sweaty hands, he pulled the fridge door open—

And out rolled a cabbage.

Ahsan stared. The cabbage rolled a little more, then stopped, as if mocking him. He blinked. Then, from the darkness of the fridge, two glowing eyes stared back at him.

He screamed again—until his cat, Sultan, stepped out, yawning.

Realization dawned. The cat had been trapped inside the fridge.

Sultan meowed, then casually walked away, leaving Ahsan frozen in place, questioning his life choices.

That night, he swore two things: never to be scared again and never to trust Sultan with midnight snacks.
