The Meeting That Could Have Been an Email
They scheduled a one-hour meeting to decide whether they needed a meeting.
What Actually Happened
- Five minutes of “Can everyone hear me?”
- Ten minutes of someone sharing their screen and showing the wrong tab.
- Fifteen minutes discussing what the meeting was supposed to be about.
- Twenty minutes of silence while one person typed furiously.
- Final ten minutes: “Let’s take this offline.”
At the end, someone said, “Great discussion, team.”
The calendar invite for the follow-up meeting arrived before anyone left the call.
Moral: Some meetings exist only to create more meetings. The email is still waiting.
